Play. Many people might consider my creations as Art.
But to me, it's Play. The medium that I have chosen to work with is inherently a children's toy, and it's refreshing to view the world through that childish lens. When I design my creations, I try to instill a certain playfulness throughout. That's not to say that creations can not be more serious or emotionally evocative, but for me, when I work with LEGO, it takes me back to time as a kid. Where everything just seems to be about how to have the most fun while playing. While I do work, you didn't come here to learn about my professional pursuits, but my plastic ones. LEGO CommunityI've always played with LEGO as a kid.
But it wasn't until years later that I discovered the LEGO community that my love for LEGO was reforged. I found an entire community of like minded groups and individuals all with the same passions to create with little LEGO bricks. It wasn't long until I ventured forth into world of LEGO Conventions, where we would share our creations to each other, and the broader public. Friendships and crazy collaborative efforts ensued, each year coming up with more fun and elaborate concepts to build and display. Though I spend a lot of my efforts on the online community still, lead many contests and build challenges. I also served as moderator and contributor to popular LEGO sites such as EuroBricks and The Brothers Brick. |
